The Stockton Activity Group started the week with a multi-sensory gardening-related activity. We began the session with a seed planting activity – ensuring every member left with planted Cosmos seeds ready for the Spring season. Once the planting was complete and the excess soil tidied up, we used the In The Garden Scentscape by Active Minds to try to get the group to think about the different sensory inputs when gardening. We had audible input from audio files of different outdoor sounds and scents that supported each audio file. We also had a gardening reminiscence pack that was spread out on the table to get the group thinking about the different tools and resources that might be found in the garden

Billingham had their first seated exercise to music session. The Activity was met with great enthusiasm

At the Young Onset Group, on Monday afternoon, one of our members was inspired to dictate the following poem upon viewing an old Whitby by Train framed image on the wall…

I’m A Home Bird

On Tuesday morning, we had our monthly Magic Moments Coffee Morning at St Cuthbert’s Church Hall in Billingham. Our theme for February was Valentine’s Day so we had romantic piano music playing through the speakers while those who attended enjoyed devouring cupcakes, fondant fancies and strawberries. The entertainment was provided in the form of a team quiz, which pitted 5 teams against each other in their knowledge of all things love-related. Here is how they ranked:

4th place – Romantic Sailors with 11/20

Joint 3rd place – Soul Mates and Cupids Arrows with 14/20

2nd place – The Doves with 15/20

1st place – Love Hearts with 17/20

We followed the quiz with a game of Mr & Mrs, where 3 couples had to answer questions about their significant other. It was a great way to find out more about some of the group members and we all had such a laugh about some of the answers given. It is safe to say that the session was full of true romantics!

On Tuesday afternoon, we celebrated the 81st birthday of one of our longest-standing members – Ann. We sang ‘Happy Birthday’ and ate birthday cake before planting Cosmos seeds in individual planters and working with the Scentscape resources.

Our Eaglescliffe group had another birthday this week, so to celebrate Bob’s special day we enjoyed a delicious chocolate birthday cake and played musical bingo.
