CARERS WEEK 2017: ‘In Our Shoes’ Carers Support and Social Group

Published by Alison Watson-Shields on

Are you caring for someone with memory problems or a diagnosis of dementia? Do you feel like you would benefit from an opportunity to socialise and receive support from people in a similar situation?

OR

Have you previously cared for someone with memory problems or dementia and would like to attend a group to support other people who are in that situation? Do you feel you could benefit from some support from other people who are in a similar situation?

As part of our Carers Week celebrations, we are officially launching the ‘In Our Shoes’ carers support and social group. The group meets on the following dates and times, parallel to the Young At Heart ULO. This ensures that carers who require support but are concerned about leaving the person that they care for can attend safe in the knowledge that the person they care for is being taken care of and engaged in activities and conversations nearby. Carers are also invited to attend independent of the person they care for.

The group meets at the following times and venues:

Mondays (except Bank Holidays), 10:00-11:30 am, St John’s Church, Durham Road, Stockton on Tees

Mondays (except Bank Holidays), 1:00-2:30 pm, Cafe In The Park, John Whitehead Park, Billingham

Tuesdays, 2:00-3:30 pm, The LiveWell Dementia Hub, Thorntree Road, Thornaby
